Peanut butter-banana toasted sandwich

Peanut butter-banana toasted sandwich has been part of my regular diet for years. I got introduced to peanut butter during my years in England. It is not such a big hit here in Scandinavia and my favourite sandwich is often frowned upon.

Peanut butter toasted sandwich

I only buy the best quality peanut butter I can find, peanuts and salt as the only two ingredients. My current favourite is Green Choice’s organic peanut butter, the crunchy variation.

I have always considered the peanut butter-banana toasted sandwich a healthy, nutritious snack, or breakfast. Peanut butter is rich in proteins, as well as minerals and vitamins. Nuts are known for their high fat (calorie) content, however, the fat is of mono-saturated kind and considered good for health. Fat is needed in our diet, and this is the kind of fat I prefer.

The sandwich is a great snack after training or as a pre-training/event meal. I find, it is quicker digested than a proper meal, and therefore I sometimes prefer having a peanut butter toasted sandwich, or two, as a meal before running.

Try it! I love it!

This sounds like my type of sandwich 🙂

I love banana together with peanuts – like the Africana dish, if you’ve heard of it. I seldom eat peanutbutter though, but if there are those only made of pure peanut I willing to go for it.

I try to eat a handful of mixed nuts every day to get my portion of good fats, protein and antioxidants

    A nice suggestion! 🙂

    • Try it Christian, I highly recommend it. Two of our kids also enjoy peanutbutter .. the third one doesn’t like many things 😉

I haven’t heard of the Africana dish. I must google it or perhaps you want to share your recipe with us? I love nuts, any kind and form really .. in salad, in food, as a snack .. and love when they are mixed with dried fruit.

  2. Mmmmm yummy in my tummy…

In what store do you buy that peanutbutter?

    KRAMAR!

    • Hi Jonna!

Here they sell it in one of the ICAs (not both!) and COOP. Hope you manage to find it somewhere. The cheaper variations with sugar and other stuff added is just not the same.

      Hälsningar!!
