Weekend already gone

Training

I am feeling healthy again and have been building up my tempo and distance. Not so much distance, but I have had a few good runs this week. I did a 7.5K run in 34 minutes and 5K in 22 minutes. This makes me happy and confident that I have not lost it all.

Many runs started here

I have run on 3 consecutive days now and I feel that I deserve a rest day tomorrow, Friday. I am hoping to do easy long runs during the weekend as well as some studying, book keeping and  tax forms (always leave it till the last moment – hate the task), celebrating the 1st of May, watching son’s football in 2 different places on Sunday .. he plays for 2 teams. I am sure there was something else too. Nevertheless ..

.. Monday will be here in a flash.

Have a good weekend!

Not ready to rock yet

Training

I thought I was ready to rock but instead have been resting most of the week.

I took a rest day on Monday as I was feeling more tired than normal. Tuesday I ran 65 minutes but struggled to keep the pulse below 140 bpm even though I was running slower than I normally do during my easy runs. In the evening my legs were aching while standing hanging the washing. Not good .. and a definite sign of a malady.

New challenges

Training

Six days of consecutive running was this week’s challenge. Never before, and it sounded like an awful lot of running. But I did well. To reduce the load ever so slightly, I was instructed to run a light 30 minute recovery run on Monday instead of a full hour run. This was after my long run on Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesday I did 1-hour-runs, and Thursday it was time for some interval work.

Friday rest

Training

My training this week has been good so far. It has been going as planned. Actually even better. It was my 5 x 8 minutes interval session that I was most pleased with. I had planned running the 8 minute intervals at about 157 bpm pace, just like I ran the last time I did the session. However, I found a nice rhythm at 163 bpm pace and kept it at that throughout the session. The 8 minute intervals have 2 minutes of easy running in between.

A good week in the end

I mentioned in my previous post, I have been feeling  more tired than normal this week and legs have felt heavy on my runs, only towards the end though. Therefore my training week did not quite look the same as it was supposed to. Thursday’s 1 hour run became a rest day and I ran on Friday instead. Saturday again was a rest day, and run on Sunday. So, three rest days altogether.

Extra day’s rest

Featured, Training

Just as I mentioned that my body has been coping well with the increased training load, it has been struggling this week. I have been more tired than normal and my legs have been feeling heavy. But I have also noticed a definite increase in my speed while the heart rate is still relatively low. Perhaps I have been running harder than normal?
